MANARAT
Bahrain's first dedicated mosque & prayer companion. Delivered end to end for KAAF Humanitarian, connecting the faithful to prayer times, Quranic reciters, and every mosque across the Kingdom.
Lighting The
Way To Prayer
KAAF Humanitarian came to AppSmiths with a mission that mattered: build a comprehensive digital companion for Muslims in Bahrain, one that goes beyond generic prayer apps and truly reflects the fabric of local mosque life.
The result is Manarat (منارات), meaning "lighthouses", an app illuminating the path to every mosque in the Kingdom, displaying per mosque Adhan and Iqama times, an interactive map, and a curated directory of Bahrain's finest Quranic reciters.
From concept to App Store launch in 2 months, with six updates shipped in the first two months post launch.
A Kingdom Of
Mosques, No
Unified Guide
Bahrain has hundreds of mosques each running its own Iqama schedule. Despite generic prayer apps being widely available, no product had ever been built specifically around Bahrain's local mosque network.
The challenge was both technical and cultural: aggregate live, per mosque prayer data, build an experience that resonates with Bahraini users, and do it with the care a humanitarian mission deserves.
- 01
Fragmented Data
No single source for per mosque Iqama schedules, so data had to be structured and maintained in real time across hundreds of mosques.
- 02
Cultural Precision
Arabic first UI, right to left layouts, and deep respect for Islamic content standards throughout every screen.
- 03
Rapid Discoverability
Users needed to find the nearest mosque in seconds, especially for catching a prayer mid day away from home.
- 04
Ambient Presence
Prayer times must be visible without opening the app, so lock screen and home screen widget integration was essential.
